CENTRALIA, IL — A car versus semi crash Saturday evening on the south side of Centralia sent a 46-year-old Salem man to the hospital for treatment of injuries.

According to Illinois State Police, 47-year-old Joshua McClellan of Rothbury, Michigan was traveling eastbound on South Wabash when as he was attempting to merge onto US 51 northbound when a car driven by 46-year-old Tony Guard of Salem was traveling southbound on U.S. 51 approaching the intersection. McClellan apparently failed to yield to Guard, whose car struck the truck in the rear axle. Both vehicles came to a stop in the intersection.

Guard was taken to a local hospital for treatment of injuries. McClellan escaped injury. He was cited for failure to yield when turning left.
