Ruth D. Wilson (DeJournett), 88, of Wayne City, went with the sunrise to be home with her Lord and Savior at 6:35 a.m., Friday, November 6, 2020, at Lavender Ridge in Mt. Vernon, with her family at her side.
She was born May 19, 1932, the daughter of Edith and Elve DeJournett. She went on to marry Paul Ray Wilson, on February 7, 1953, at Salem Free Will Baptist Church in Wayne City, and he preceded her in death on February 5, 2014.
Mrs. Wilson loved to teach and spread the word of God. She worked in the daycare at Good Samaritan Hospital, although her favorite job was being a mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She made sure that all the children in her life knew who God was.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; son Danny Wilson; grandson Joey Wilson; brothers Carl and Robert; and sisters Leona and Betty.
Mrs. Wilson is survived by sons Jack Wilson and wife Beth, and Ted Wilson; grandchildren Melissa Wilson-Smith and Vince Chapman of Wayne City, Jennifer Moore and husband James of Wayne City, Kimberly Zimmerman and husband Zach of McLeansboro, Christina Wilson of Wayne City, Brianna Simpson and husband Allen of Noble, Joshua Wilson and wife Maddison of Dix; great-grandchildren Emily, Jacey, Chase Wilson-Smith, AJ, Kylee, Lily, and Logan Moore, Zayden and Kamryn Zimmerman, Baby B Wilson, KarmaLee, and Justin and HattieLynne Wilson; and sisters Barbra Wilson and husband Ronald, and Lois (Late Carl).
A Graveside Service for Mrs. Wilson will be held at 12:00 p.m. (Noon), Monday, November 9, 2020, at Mateer-Davis Cemetery in Bluford. Interment will follow at Mateer-Davis Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m., Monday, November 9, 2020, at Salem Free Will Baptist Church.
