Centralia woman pleads guilty to illegal possession of firearms

EAST ST. LOUIS — A 37-year-old Centralia woman was sentenced Thursday in federal court in East St. Louis to 21 months in federal prison after she previously pleaded guilty to charges of illegal possession of firearms by a felon.

According to court records, on August 5, 2019, the Carlyle home of Linzie Pracht’s boyfriend was broken into and firearms and a safe were stolen.

The firearms included a .38 caliber Smith and Wesson revolver, .22 caliber Carl Walther, and a 12 gauge Browning shotgun.

When contacted by the police, Pracht reportedly said she wasn’t involved in the burglary of her boyfriend’s home but that she could get the weapons returned.

A few days after the burglary, the surveillance system at her parents’ home showed her carrying the stolen firearms from a vehicle into the house.

Pracht then contacted her boyfriend and told him she’d found the firearms and they were at her parents’ house.

She later told officers again that she wasn’t involved in the burglary but that she did have possession of the weapons. She also admitted that she knew that as a felon she was prohibited from possessing weapons.

The court on Thursday recommended Pracht serve her 21 month sentence at FCI Greenville, Illinois, to be near her family. She was given credit for time served in federal custody since October 31, 2019.

Pracht is still facing charges in Clinton County for possession of drugs and drug equipment and is scheduled for a November 18 status hearing in that case.
