CENTRALIA, IL — A 24-year-old Centralia man has been arrested in connection with an August shooting in Centralia that left a pregnant Centralia woman critically injured.

Lorenzo Cross was arrested in Lake County, Illinois on a $150,000 Marion County warrant charging him with three Class X felony charges of aggravated battery with the use of a firearm and Class 1 felony aggravated discharge of a firearm.

Cross was returned Thursday to Marion County to face those charges.

According to Centralia police, Cross is believed to be the boyfriend of the shooting victim, 28-year-old Mylisha Scott of Centralia, and was in a vehicle with Scott when he became involved in an exchange of gunfire with another man who has been identified as 28-year-old Terrance Jones of Centralia.

Several of the gunshots struck the Scott, including one shot to the head.

Her baby was delivered in the emergency room. Cross was not injured and Jones was treated for a gunshot wound to the leg.

Jones has not been charged in connection with the shooting at this time but is being held in the Marion County Jail in lieu of $50,000 bond on an unrelated child pornography case.

Police are still awaiting the result of ballistics from the State Crime Lab to determine which gun fired the shots that injured Scott.

Cross is next due to appear in court November 11, when he should have retained a private attorney.
