NASHVILLE — Nashville Community High School’s Board of Education approved an opt out requirement to the Transitional Math Class on Tuesday night.

The board felt the senior level course was unnecessary since it was repeat curriculum. Keeping the course would’ve forced the board to hire additional staff in order for it to be taught.

Superintendent Brad Turner informed the board that the track project had been completed with final payments completed.

In other business the board:
* Approved a tentative tax level with a prediction of a 4.5-percent growth in EAV and a projected increase of $108,185. Interest and consolidation of the bond were not taken into consideration.

* Approved the risk management plan which puts salaries and insurance into the tort fund.

* Heard a proposal from Richelle Heggemeier and Gary Malawy of Krehbiel and Associates who intend to add parking spaces to Jusice Karmeier’s office near the high school property. The plan is that once Karmeier’s term ends that the parking could be used for businesses as well as additional parking for sporting events. The board will make a decision on the propeosal at a later meeting.

The next regularly scheduled board meeting is Tuesday, Nov. 16.
