ULLIN, IL — Illinois State Police say two people have been taken into custody in a multi-county crime spree.

According to an ISP press release, an armed robbery happened at 12:30 a.m. Thursday at Casey’s General Store on North First in Vienna. The Johnson County Sheriff’s Office, Vienna Police and ISP troopers arrived within minutes and located the suspect vehicle nearby. A short pursuit ensued and the suspects fled the scene ending on US 45 near Roosevelt Loop north of Vienna.

Forty-nine-year-old Robert R. Sanders of Owensboro, KY and 39-year-old Deangela G. Lindsey of Coleman, AL were taken into custody without incident. During the investigation, ISP discovered the suspects had stolen a vehicle in Owensboro several days ago and had been in the Massac County area leading up to the robbery in Vienna.

While the investigation continues and additional charges are expected, both Sanders and Lindsey are being held in the Massac County Jail awaiting bond hearings.  Sanders is being held on a charge of Armed Robbery and Lindsey is being held on a charge of robbery.
