JEFFERSON COUNTY, IL — The Sheriff’s Office is making multiple improvements to how they serve Jefferson County on a day-to-day basis. This year they received approval from the County Board to add four new quad cab pick-up trucks to the department’s fleet.

Sheriff Jeff Bullard says the new trucks will help his deputy’s better serve the rural county residents.

The Sheriff’ Department is also trying to follow-suit with the Mt. Vernon PD and update their communications network to a digital system. Chairman Cliff Lindemann says the County Board opened bids this week but had some discrepancies among the specifics on what the JSCO needed.

Lindemann hopes to have a bid awarded and the new radio systems approved after next month’s meeting.
