BENTON, IL — Some Ameren Illinois customers were without power for almost two hours this morning after a tree got into some power lines just north of Ameren’s substation in the Benton/Whittington Area.

Ameren Spokesperson Brian Bretsch says calls started coming in around 6 about the outage.

Bretsch says vegetation crews will be in the area today to remove the tree, then all power will be switched back to the line that was impacted by the tree this morning.
