SALEM, IL — A 36-year-old Alma man was arrested Friday afternoon after he allegedly backed his vehicle into a Salem Police Department squad car.

Matthew Ellis was arrested after police attempted to stop him because they knew his license was revoked.

He reportedly drove into the Burger King parking lot where he scooted from the driver’s seat to the passenger seat but failed to put the car into park.

The vehicle then rolled back and struck the front of the squad car.

The grill of the squad car was cracked and there was also some damage to the bumper from the impact.
