MT. VERNON, IL — The Illinois Emergency Management Agency (IEMA), and local emergency managers, are encouraging Illinoisans to take the time to prepare for potential emergencies at homes, at work, and in the community.

Mt. Vernon Fire Chief and EMA Coordinator Kevin Sargent wants all families to get prepared as we close out September and National Preparedness Month. He says coming up with a plan starts by simply having a conversation.

This year’s theme from the state of Illinois is “Disasters Don’t Wait. Make Your Plan Today.” Find out where to begin by visiting ready.illinois.gov.
