MT. VERNON, IL — Zone 8 Investigators with the Illinois State Police have released additional information on a Sunday morning shooting death in Olney that had law enforcement officials searching for a 19-year-old male suspect in Mt. Vernon.

According to ISP, they responded early Sunday morning to an area in Olney in reference to a homicide investigation.

They say 19-year-old Kyle M. Johnson, of Olney, was found in the street with multiple gunshot wounds. He was transported to an area hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.

A homicide investigation led to 19-year-old Rick A. Meador being identified as a possible suspect in the case and a warrant was issued for his arrest. Meador is described as a white male, 5-feet 11-inches tall, weighing approximately 155 pounds, with brown hair and hazel eyes. He may be accompanied by a white juvenile female.

The search for the couple ultimately led to Mt. Vernon where officers located a vehicle the two had likely been driving but the pair was nowhere to be found and remain at large.
