MARION COUNTY — Bail was set at $15,000 Monday in Marion County Court for a 26-year-old Sandoval man charged with two counts aggravated battery with a deadly weapon in connection with an alleged incident last month.

According to court information, Joey Evans is accused of shooting two females with an air rifle on August 20 behind the Marion County Housing Authority Units near Sandoval Park.

Both women were reportedly struck in the leg but neither required hospitalization.

Evans was located Saturday and arrested. He was taken to the Marion County Jail and was formally charged in court Monday with the two Class 3 felony counts of aggravated battery.

He’s next scheduled to appear in court September 8 for a preliminary hearing and a first appearance with his court-appointed attorney.
