JEFFERSON / FRANKLIN COUNTIES — IDOT has postponed a lane reduction on I-57 in Jefferson and Franklin Counties.

The lane reduction of both directions of traffic between mile marker 66 and mile marker 90 has been moved back due to inclement weather. It was originally scheduled to start tonight.

Beginning next Tuesday, September 8th, weather permitting, a work crew will be conducting a pavement inspection on each direction of the 24 mile stretch of I-57 in Jefferson and Franklin Counties.

Motorists should reduce speed, be alert to equipment and workers and use extreme caution through the area. The work is expected to last two nights.

To avoid any delays, motorists should seek an alternate route. Emergency vehicles will be allowed through the work zone as quickly as possible.
