CHRISTOPHER — A 31-year-old Christopher woman was arrested over the weekend after Mt. Vernon police reportedly discovered drugs and a stun gun during a Friday morning traffic stop on an apparent stolen vehicle.

According to Mt. Vernon Police Chief Trent Page, Jessica Joslin was a passenger in a vehicle stopped around 10 a.m. Friday near 10th and Gilbert in Mt. Vernon.

The vehicle, driven by 27-year-old Racey Hicks, of Mt. Vernon had been reported to the Mt. Vernon Police Department as stolen.

A subsequent investigation reportedly revealed a stun gun, narcotics including methamphetamine and a substance appearing to be either Fentanyl or heroin, along with paraphernalia and items used in the distribution of drugs.

Joslin, who pleaded guilty earlier this month to Class 3 felony possession of meth, was arrested and taken to the Jefferson County Jail. She was formally charged Monday in Jefferson County Court with Class 2 felony delivery of meth, and Class 3 felony being a felon in possession of a weapon.

Bail in the case was set at $75,000, and she’s scheduled for a September 24 preliminary hearing on the new charges.

She was scheduled to be sentenced in October to the possession charge with a 4-year cap placed on that sentence.

Hicks was arrested and charged in Jefferson County Court Monday with felony possession of meth.
