NORRIS CITY — The superintendent of the Norris City-Omaha-Enfield School District released a statement on school district’s Facebook page saying that the district was notified by the local health department that a faculty member at NCOE High School has been positively diagnosed with COVID-19.

Supt. Matthew Vollman says the last time the infected person was in the school setting while they were contagious was Wednesday, Aug. 26. The individual is in isolation.

Vollman did not release the faculty member’s name saying the school district must protect the privacy of the person involved. He says it’s best to be completely transparent so the best decision for families can be made during this difficult time.

Anyone who was in close contact (within 6 feet of the infected person for 15 minutes or more) of the infected staff member has already been contacted by the local health department and is in quarantine.

The building environment is also safe to enter at this time as it has been thoroughly cleaned and disinfected.
