JEFFERSON COUNTY — The Jefferson County Health Department confirmed 19 new cases of COVID-19 and one new death from the weekend on Monday.

There were six confirmed cases on Saturday, eight new cases on Sunday, and five new cases on Monday.

The death was of a long-term care resident and brings the county’s death total to 31.

There are currently 89 active COVID-19 cases in the county currently in isolation, and 481 cases total since the pandemic began.

The health department is asking residents to stay home and away from others if they are having symptoms. If you get tested, you should remain at home in isolation while you wait on your test results.

If you test positive or are a close contact of a positive, you will be contacted by the health department and placed on isolation or quarantine. This is to help prevent the spread of the virus, so it is important to answer your phone and adhere to the quarantine.
