KINMUNDY — South Central Middle School in Kinmundy is reporting a student has tested positive for COVID-19.

According to school officials, the student was in school Monday, but not on Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday. The school district says it’s working with the Marion County Health Department on contact tracing.

Fourteen students but no staff members were reportedly sent home to quarantine for 14 days at the direction of the health department.

The 14 students reportedly had close contact with the student who tested positive and will be on full remote learning during the 14 day quarantine.

Classes at South Central Middle School will continue as scheduled.  South Central is the third school district in Marion County that has had a student who has tested positive for COVID-19.

Sandoval schools have been on full remote learning since Tuesday as a result of four grade school teachers testing positive for COVID-19.

Odin School is also on full remote learning for 14 days until Thursday, September 10th.
