JEFFERSON COUNTY — Eight new confirmed cases of the novel coronavirus were announced by the Jefferson County Health Department Tuesday.

Of the eight new cases, two are females in their teens, two are males in their 30’s, two are females in their 40’s, one is a female in her 50’s, and one is a female in her 80’s.

There are now 432 total positive cases of COVID-19 in Jefferson County since the pandemic began, and 60 cases are currently active. 31 people in the county have died of the virus.

The health department is asking residents to stay home and away from others if they are having symptoms. If you get tested, you should remain at home in isolation while you wait on your test results.

If you test positive or are a close contact of a positive, you will be contacted by the health department and placed on isolation or quarantine. This is to help prevent the spread of the virus, so it is important to answer your phone and adhere to the quarantine.
