WALTONVILLE — A staff member in the Waltonville School District has tested positive for COVID-19.
In a Facebook post Wednesday night, Waltonville Superintendent Dr. Melanie Brink said the Jefferson County Health Department has informed the district of the staff member testing positive. As a precautionary measure, the district is asking any other staff member who has had contact with the staff member to get tested for the novel coronavirus.
She says more information will be coming, but the plan to return to school in Waltonville is still set for Monday with a form of blended in-person and remote learning.
Brink says the district will always put student and staff safety first in every decision. She says this is not their original plan as the district had hoped to return to full in-person instruction, but if the pandemic has taught us all anything, it is to be flexible.
Brink says more details about Monday‘s return to school will be released Friday morning.
