MT. VERNON — IDOT has announced a lane reduction to begin soon on Illinois Route 37 at the I-64 interchange.

Beginning Monday, weather permitting, Route 37 will be reduced to one lane in each directon between East Bethel Rd. and North Bunny Farm Rd. in Mt. Vernon.

The closure is necessary for the construction of new pavement, shoulder, curb, and gutter under the I-64 overpass bridge. The work is expected to last about two months.

Motorists should reduce speed, be alert to equipment and workers and use extreme caution when traveling through the work zone. To avoid delays, motorists should seek an alternate route. Emergency vehicles will be allowed through the work zone as quickly as possible.
