JEFFERSON COUNTY, IL — The Health Department has reported 2 additional deaths of residents at a long term care facility in Mt. Vernon due in part to COVID-19 complications. That brings the county death toll to 21.

JCHD also reported 37 new cases over the weekend with 11 of those being residents of that long-term care facility. The latest report brings the total number of active, positive cases in the county to 99 which are all currently in isolation.

The health department asks that residents stay home and away from others if they are having symptoms. If you do get tested, you should remain at home in isolation while you await your test results. If you test positive or are a close contact of a positive, you will be contacted by the Health Department and placed on isolation or quarantine.
