MARION COUNTY — Motorists traveling I-57 southbound near Salem should expect delays because of ongoing road construction.

IDOT officials announced Wednesday that the right southbound lane is closed near mile marker 116 at the Salem exit until 9 a.m. on Monday, August 17th.

The lane closure is necessary for expansion joint repair.

Motorists should expect delays and allow for extra time for trips through this area. You are asked to use an alternate route if possible.

Drivers are also urged to pay close attention to changed conditions and signs in the work zones, obey the posted speed limits, refrain from using mobile devices and be alert for workers and equipment.
