INA — Rend Lake College was one of the many community colleges across the state that will receive grant money from the Illinois Community College Board for improvements for their Career and Technical Education programs. The announcement came from the ICCB last week.

RLC will be receiving just over $88,000 of the statewide $1.7 million in grant money.

Kim Wilkerson is the Associate Vice President for Career and Technical Education and Student Support at RLC. She says the plan for the grant money is to make WiFi more accessible all over Rend Lake’s campus.

Wilkerson says the college’s research shows that under 50% of students who live in rural areas have access to high speed internet at home.
