CENTRALIA, IL — No one was injured Saturday when a disagreement between groups of people in two separate homes led to one woman allegedly firing shots in the 600 block of North Maple in Centralia.

Centralia police responded around 8:30 Saturday night after receiving multiple calls of shots fired and subsequently arrested 20-year-old Kasana James, of Centralia, on charges of aggravated discharge of a firearm and unlawful possession of a firearm.

Officers had responded multiple times to that area Saturday on reports of people fighting. Large groups of people were reportedly gathered at each home. At one point, someone from the other house ran up to the residence that James was inside of and sprayed pepper spray into the home.

The Centralia City Fire Department responded to decontaminate some of the people who were struck by the spray.

It’s unclear at this time what caused the dispute between the occupants of the two homes.
