MARION — There seems to be some movement involving the shuttered Illinois Star Center Mall in Marion.

Marion Mayor Mike Absher’s Chief of Staff, Cody Moake, says a developer is looking to turn the property on the west side of town into a destination again.

Moake says there has been some talk that the developer may also be looking at acquiring the Kokopelli Golf Club property as well.

It’s unknown at this time if and when a formal announcement will be made regarding the developer’s plans.

The Illinois Star Center Mall closed in late 2018.
