JEFFERSON COUNTY — Six new confirmed cases of COVID-19 were confirmed Thursday by the Jefferson County Health Department.

A female in her 20’s, and a male in his 30’s, two males in their 40’s, a male in his 60’s, and a male in his 70’s all tested positive for the virus.

There are now 14 active cases in Jefferson County that are currently in isolation, and 152 total positive test results since the pandemic began.

If you test positive or are a close contact of a positive, you will be contacted by the Health Department and placed on isolation or quarantine. This is to help prevent the spread, so it is important to answer your phone and adhere to the isolation and quarantine by staying home and away from others.

Statewide Thursday, 1,624 new cases of the novel coronavirus were confirmed by the Illinois Department of Public Health, along with 25 additional deaths. Currently, IDPH is reporting 166,925 cases of COVID-19 since the pandemic began and 7,367 Illinoisans have died of the virus.
