ILLINOIS (RFD) — The lawyer who worked on behalf of state Representative Darren Bailey is now suing the Illinois High School Association. Attorney Thomas DeVore says his lawsuit comes after the IHSA offered revised return to play rules limiting physical contact between athletes and could require participants to wear masks.
DeVore says the IHSA is being pressured by the Governor’s office and the Illinois Department of Public Health to issue harsh rules for the IHSA to follow.
DeVore is filing the lawsuit on behalf himself and his children.
IHSA Executive Director Craig Anderson says they are waiting to see the details of the lawsuit.
DeVore’s lawsuit includes the Hillsboro school district. One of his contentions is the IHSA’s Board and committees didn’t approve additional changes to the return to play plan and the IHSA is being dictated to by the Illinois Department of Public Health and Governor’s office.
