SOUTHERN, ILLINOIS — The Marion Community Unit 2 School District will hold Kindergarten registration on Monday, July 27 and Tuesday, July 28 from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Marion Junior High School Cafeteria.

New students going into the 1st through 8th grades will register from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Marion Junior High School Cafeteria while those in 9th through 12th grade will register at the same time at the Marion High School entrance.

Returning students should check the email inbox they provided the district for a registration link on Monday, July 20.

Benton Grade School will hold Kindergarten pre-registration and screenings for children who will be 5 years of age on or before Sept. 1 on Monday, June 22 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., Tuesday, June 23 from 1 to 6 p.m., Wednesday, June 24 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. and Thursday, June 25 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m..

Benton Consolidated High School District #103 Supt. Benjamin Johnson says online registration for Benton Consolidated High School students will be available July 24 through the 31. Parents will be able to register your students for school through the online platform.

A letter was mailed to every student Thursday with registration information and login directions for the online portal.

For those families that have connectivity issues or need assistance with the online registration process, a parent may come to the BCHS Library for online registration on July 29 from 9 a.m. to noon and on July 30 from 4 to 7 p.m.

Supt. Johnson says the school district will follow the state-mandated safety protocols by taking the parent’s and/or student’s temperature at the main entrance in front of school, requiring a mask to enter the school, and maintaining social distancing. The school will have masks available for those that do not have a mask, as well as hand sanitizer available in the library.

The Ewing-Northern School District will hold Pre-K registration on Monday, July 27 from 9 a.m. to noon. No appointment is necessary.

Kindergarten screenings will be held on Monday, July 27 from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Screenings will be by appointment only. Call the EGS office at 629-2181 to make an appointment.

First through Eighth Grade Registration will be held on Tuesday, July 28 from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Wednesday, July 29 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

To prepare for the 2020-2021 school year, schools in West Frankfort will be hosting registration days later this month.  While more detailed information will be on each school’s website, the overall schedule is as follows.

Kindergarten registration will be held at Denning Elementary School on Friday, July 17 from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Registration at Denning Elementary School, Frankfort Intermediate School and Central Junior High School will be held on Tuesday, July 28, Wednesday, July 29 and Thursday, July 30 from 8 a.m. to noon and from 1 to 3 p.m.

Registration at Frankfort Community High School will be held on Tuesday, July 28 for Seniors from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. for from 1 to 4 p.m. for Juniors. Sophomores will register on Wednesday, June 29 from 8 to 11 a.m. and from 1 to 4 p.m. Freshmen will register on Thursday, June 30 from 8 to 11 a.m. and from 1 to 4 p.m.

Social distancing procedures should be followed, and face coverings should be worn when entering the schools for registration.
