SOUTHERN ILLINOIS — A recent CDC report shows that routine childhood vaccinations have dropped because of families staying at home because of the coronavirus pandemic. One local health department is encouraging residents to stay on top of protecting themselves and others from preventable illnesses.

Shawnna Rhine with the Southern Seven Health Department says calls to schedule vaccinations at their department have dropped by over 50 percent compared to this time last year.

Those in the Southern Seven coverage area can schedule their child’s vaccines by calling the department at 634-2297.
