MT. VERNON, IL — A new school year in 2020 brings new rules and regulations for students, educators as well as administrators. Governor JB Pritzker released long-awaited guidance for schools this past Tuesday as questions swirled over how or even if instruction would resume this fall.

Melanie Andrews is starting her first year as Superintendent of Mt. Vernon Township High School. She says the main issues are the constant changing of rules and regulations due to COVID-19.

Some of the guidelines include required use of PPE, including face masks, no more than 50 individuals gathering in one space, social distancing when possible, and conducting symptom screenings and temperature checks before individuals enter the school building.
