ELDORADO — A nine-year-old boy was airlifted to an area hospital crashing his scooter into a passing car Thursday night in Eldorado.
In a press release, Illinois State Police officials say the accident happened just after 6:45 p.m. Thursday at Fourth Street and North Railroad Street in Eldorado.
Police say the child was traveling westbound on a bike path towards Fourth Street in the area of North Railroad Street when the boy continued onto the roadway, failing to yield the right of way at the posted stop sign. 31-year-old Kyle Myers of Eldorado was driving southbound on Fourth Street and the boy struck Myers’ vehicle at the intersection of Fourth and North Railroad. Two witnesses told police they observed the boy enter the roadway and strike the rear passenger side of Myer’s vehicle.
The boy is said to have non-life threatening injuries, but was airlifted to an area hospital. Myers refused medical treatment.
