FAYETTE COUNTY, IL — A two-vehicle crash around 11am Wednesday morning has claimed the life of an 80-year-old Effingham resident.

Karen Condron was traveling west on interstate 70 near milepost 70 when she crossed the center median for an unknown reason and entered the eastbound lane of traffic.

Condron struck a car, head-on, driven by 24-year-old Travis Stroup of New Castle, Indiana.

A passenger in the Stroup vehicle, Courtney Stroup was transported along with Travis by ambulance to an area hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Condron was pronounced deceased at the scene.
