SPRINGFIELD — Lawmakers are continuing to react to the 2021 Illinois fiscal budget passed over the weekend in Springfield.

59th district State Senator Dale Fowler opposed the approved budget. He says the state can’t be relying on borrowing federal dollars that haven’t been authorized in Washington yet.

Fowler says he is happy to see that education funding was not cut despite the pandemic, saying that was the best case scenario for local schools. He is also excited to see money appropriated for the Cairo Port Terminal, the Rend Lake Resort, and other economic development projects in his district.
