MT. VERNON, IL — The Mt. Vernon Police Department responded Saturday evening to Kroger and the report of a shoplifter who had fled from the store.

Henry York was taken into custody around 6pm on May 23rd with the help of MVPD K9 Officer Bolo and his partner Travis Pendley. York had been reported to have fled into a wooded area near the store. Officer Bolo tracked York and located several items during the search before locating him in a thick, grassy area.

He surrendered to the K9 team and was taken into custody without further incident to the Jefferson County Justice Center on a charge of Felony Retail Theft. York was incarcerated with bond to be set.

K9 Bolo and Officer Pendley graduated from the Illinois State Police K9 Academy two weeks ago and this is their first street arrest.
