CENTRAL CITY, IL — Police arrested a 57-year-old man over the weekend for an alleged attempted arson earlier this month. According to police, on May 18th Larry Sligar, of Central City, reportedly poured gasoline along the outside of a neighbor’s mobile home.

The neighbor told police he woke up to the smell of gasoline and saw Sligar walking away from his home and carrying a gas can. While Sligar reportedly didn’t attempt to light the gasoline on fire, police say he may have only been stopped because the resident woke up.

Sligar and the neighbor reportedly had previous verbal disputes.

He was taken into custody when located by police on Saturday on a charge of aggravated attempted arson.
