JEFFERSON COUNTY, IL — The Health Department has not had a positive case of COVID-19 reported in a county resident since May 14th as of Thursday afternoon. Public Health Administrator Amy Harrison says this streak has boosted morale around the department.

JCHD has reported 102 total positive test results since the start of the pandemic. There are still 2 active cases currently in isolation while 86 have been released. The county has reported 1,042 negative test results.

Harrison says although a streak of no cases is great news, she reminds county residents to continue following the health guidelines so as to keep that number of new cases at zero each day.

The JCHD encourages people to continue practicing good hand hygiene, putting distance between you and others, trying not to gather in groups if it’s not necessary, wear a face covering while in public, and disinfect frequently touched surfaces.
