MT. VERNON, IL — Appellate Court Justice David Overstreet appears in a new video featuring judges from across Illinois that are stepping up and administering justice by handling caseloads despite the disruption to the courts caused by COVID-19. The video includes appearances from judges throughout Illinois who are embracing new technology, conducting virtual hearings and proceedings remotely as well as appearing in person for emergency hearings while adhering to the required safety protocols to minimize risk.

Justice Overstreet says the courts are still trying to serve the public despite the less than desirable circumstances that go into doing so now.

Justice Overstreet was appointed to the Second Judicial Circuit Court in 2007. He was assigned to the Fifth District Appellate Court in 2017 and was elected to serve on that court in 2018. The Fifth District serves 37 counties in the southern part of the state.
