Semi driver from Iowa treated for non-life threatening injuries after crashing into fallen tree

WAYNE COUNTY, IL — A semi driver from Iowa crashed into a tree on eastbound I-64 in Wayne County around 10 Saturday night.

According to Illinois State Police, 57-year-old Donald G. Drtina of Alburnett, Iowa was driving his tractor trailer east on I-64 in the right lane near milepost 107 when he was unable to stop before colliding with a tree that had fallen across both lanes.

Tree branches penetrated the windshield injuring the driver. The driver was taken to an area hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.
