CENTRALIA, IL — Centralia police officers were involved in two separate incidents Wednesday morning involving outside agencies at homes in the 400 block of North Poplar and in the 500 block of North Hickory.

According to Centralia Police Chief Greg Dodson, CPD officers assisted agents from the US Marshall’s Service in executing an Illinois Department of Corrections warrant on 29-year-old Darius J. Love, of Centralia.

Love was also being sought in connection with a shooting that took place in the early morning hours on May 7th at 4th and Cedar in Centralia. Dodson says the shooting was related to a suspected drug transaction.

Love was arrested Wednesday in connection with the shooting and taken to the Marion County Jail to await the formal filing of charges and the setting of bail. Two firearms were reportedly recovered during the arrest and charges relating to the recovered weapons are still pending at this time.

In 2010 Love was sentenced in Marion County Court to two years in the Illinois Department of Corrections after he was convicted of being a felon in possession of a firearm.
