ILLINOIS — Governor J.B. Pritzker announced a regional re-opening plan that would allow some parts of the state to open earlier than others depending on certain data and factors. Local officials are now reacting to the announcement made Tuesday.
Harrisburg mayor John McPeek says while he’s happy that state leaders are now looking at regional re-opening, the plan still may take too long to save some businesses in the community.
Under the plan, the whole state is currently in phase two of the plan, where the rise in the rate of infections is beginning to slow down and stabilize. Phase three will require the rate of infection and related hospitalizations to be stabilized or start to decrease, and the phase would allow manufacturing, offices, retail, barbershops, and salons to reopen with certain safety precautions in place. Restaurants and bars would be allowed to reopen under phase four of the plan.
