CENTRALIA, IL — The City of Centralia may soon have a new city manager, as acting Mayor Herb Williams has announced the council is close to making an offer to one candidate.

During multiple closed session meetings over the last few weeks, the Centralia City Council has narrowed the field of candidates. Before replacing former City Manager Dan Ramey, however, the council will have to give him a 30-day notice before his current contract expires at the end of April or the contract will automatically renew.

Ramey and the city had entered into a nearly $7,000 a month contract for his consultation services following his resignation as city manager January.
