There is no doubt the cost to fight COVID-19 has been high for the state of Illinois. Governor JB Pritzker says he doesn’t have an exact amount yet but the price of everything they’re buying has been getting more expensive than usual.
The state reported 1,465 new cases and 68 additional deaths. This latest report brings the total number of coronavirus cases to 17,887 and the death toll to 596.
Gov. Pritzker says they are going to be posting contracts to state websites to show what has been spent and where in the fight against COVID-19. A study from the U of I says the state could lose anywhere from about $5 to $28 billion in revenue until 2023 because of the pandemic.
