SALEM, IL — Bail was set Thursday in Marion County Court at $2,500 for a 30-year-old Salem man arrested by Salem police for alleged weapons violations after officers responded to a report in the 1000 block of North Shelby of a battery.

According to police, they received a report Wednesday night of two men beating a third man outside a home on North Shelby but upon their arrival, officers found the two men had already left.

One of the two men, Ryan Moghadam, was found lying on the ground outside his home a block away and reportedly had a gun at his feet.

Moghadam was arrested for alleged possession of a defaced firearm, possession of a firearm with no fire owners ID and unlawful possession of ammunition.   He was taken to the Marion County Jail and was later charged in court with Class 3 felony possession of a defaced firearm.

Police continue to seek a second man who was reportedly armed with a bat. The alleged victim has not filed a complaint regarding the beating.
