HARRISBURG — Schools are likely to be closed through the month of April after the CDC extended their social distancing guidelines through April 30. Some area schools are now going full speed ahead with online learning.

Harrisburg School Superintendent Mike Gauch says his district’s e-learning packets are now required to be turned in every two weeks and will be graded on a pass/incomplete scale. He says the packets can only help a student’s grade, it will have no negative impact on the student.

Looking forward though, Gauch says it’s looking more likely that the school year could well be over.

The district’s e-learning plan has been submitted to the state and approved by the Regional Office of Education, but Gauch says he is working on a remote learning plan if this closure is to extend long-term.
