MARION COUNTY — Marion County voters on Tuesday supported by a narrow margin a measure for an additional one-percent sales tax.

Money collected through the tax will be used exclusively for school facility purposes, school resources officers, and mental health professionals.

The measure was approved by more than 50-percent of Marion County voters and rejected by less than 48-percent.

In contested local primary races, Cathy Malone beat out Lori Lea Linder for the Democratic nomination for Circuit Clerk. There was no Republicans race for that nomination.

And in the Democratic nomination race for County Coroner, Nicholas Heath handily beat Dr. Anton Dubrick by bringing in nearly 47-percent of the vote. Heath will run against incumbent Republican Troy Cannon in the November General Election.
