MT. VERNON — A Mt. Vernon man was taken into custody on multiple charges, including aggravated battery of a police officer, after MVPD officers responded to a domestic dispute Sunday afternoon.
The call came in just after 4:30 p.m. Sunday to a domestic disturbance in the 900 block of S. 6th St. in Mt. Vernon. When officers arrived, police found 23-year-old Wristen Hout arguing with a female in the front yard of the home. When Hout noticed officers, he ran into the house and out the back door.
Officers pursued Hout on foot, and during the pursuit, he shoved an officer in an effort to flee police. MVPD officers did capture Hout and he continued resisting arrest, kicking at officers while being put in the squad car.
Hout was taken to a local hospital to be cleared before going to the Jefferson County Justice Center on charges of aggravated battery to a peace officer, domestic battery, resisting / obstructing an officer, and on a DOC parole violation warrant.
The officers involved did not require medical treatment.
