CENTRALIA — A 21-year-old Centralia man has been arrested for alleged child abuse, following an investigation by the Centralia Police Department.

According to Police Chief Greg Dodson, Michael Lynch Jr. was arrested without incident for alleged aggravated domestic battery.

He was taken into custody without incident and was charged with Aggravated Domestic Battery. Lynch is being held in the Marion County Jail pending formal charges.

.Dodson says his department was contacted Friday by Schiller School about a possible child abuse case. A sergeant arrived and spoke with school officials and quickly determined there was abuse of the child and took the child into protective custody.

The child was transported to the hospital for treatment of injuries and officers contacted DCFS. They then met with a DCFS official at the emergency room and continued the investigation.

After further investigation, it was determined that Lynch, the child’s stepfather, was the alleged suspect.

Police took Lynch into custody without incident and was charged with Aggravated Domestic Battery. Lynch is being held in the Marion County Jail pending formal charges.
