SANDOVAL — A Wednesday morning fire destroyed a vacant home in Sandoval and brought multiple agencies out to battle the blaze.

Sandoval firefighters reported around 5:53 a.m. to the home at 402 South Maple in Sandoval was fully involved upon their arrival and that the roof of the home was collapsing.

Firefighters from Odin and Centralia Fire Protection District responded with mutual aid and City of Centralia firefighters were on standby and the Sandoval station in case of another fire call.

Sandoval Village workers also responded to assist in opening up the floor of the structure with a backhoe to enable firefighters to access the flames under the home.

Due to the home being vacant at the time of the fire, the State Fire Marshal has been called to investigate.

Firefighters remained on scene for more than two hours.
