BENTON, IL — Brave souls will take on the frigid waters of Rend Lake Saturday, March 7th during the Law Enforcement Torch Run Polar Plunge to raise money for the athletes of Special Olympics Illinois.

The Rend Lake Plunge will take place at South Sandusky Beach on Rend City Road in Benton. Rhonda Knight is the Region K Director of Special Olympics. She says all Polar Plungers are each required to collect a minimum of $100 in donations and a team must consist of a minimum of five plungers.

There is a special pre-registration party at Nu Bowl Lanes in Mt. Vernon on Wednesday, March 4th from 6-8pm. Finger foods, discount bowling and no waiting in line the day of the plunge will be available for those who take care of registration ahead of time.
