MARION COUNTY — A 19-year-old Odin man pleaded guilty Wednesday to one of four felony charges stemming from the September 2019 armed robbery of a man in Sandoval.

James Planitz pleaded guilty to Class 3 felony aggravated battery with the use of a weapon in exchange for two Class X felony charges of home invasion and one Class X felony charge of armed robbery being dismissed.

Planitz was then sentenced to three years TASC Probation, ordered to complete alcohol and drug evaluations and treatment, to abstain from drugs and alcohol with random testing and to have no contact with the victim or his residence. He was also ordered to pay $2,400 in restitution.

Planitz was the last defendant to plead guilty to the incident. Earlier this month 18-year-old Cameron Corrie was sentenced to 7-years in prison after he pleaded guilty to the lesser of the four same charges and 18-year-old Gavin Mays was sentenced to four years probation for the same Class 3 felony charge.

The three were arrested in September for beating and robbing a male victim at a home in the 300 block of Oklahoma in Sandoval. The victim reportedly had gone to the location to sell someone an X-box.

He reported that when he arrived at the residence three males beat him and took the X-box he was selling, along with $2,000 cash from his wallet. He reported that at least two of the subjects were armed with guns.
